++ Installation Guide of SyncBraille Driver for JAWS 2011-02-07 HIMS International Corporation. -- Please be sure you have JAWS 10 or higher installed on your computer as this driver is not compatible with earlier versions of JAWS. This installation guide assumes you have already installed JAWS 10 or higher on your PC. If not, please install JAWS before proceeding with this installation. This document consists of guides for installation/deletion of the USB driver for the SyncBraille Braille display for use with JAWS for Windows. Default key descriptions are contained in the hotkey definitions files along with this installation guide and the driver itself. TXT document: www.himsintl.com/upload/JAWS/Hot-Key_Define_Jaws_SyncBraille.txt. ++ HOW TO INSTALL the SyncBraille Driver. 1. If you¡¯re reading this, you have likely downloaded and extracted the zip file containing the installation and documentation files for the driver. Locate the installation file in Windows Explorer. 2. Run the installer program and the installation wizard will be started as below. - To start installation, click the ¡°Install¡± button near the bottom of the screen. - At this time, if you haven¡¯t installed JAWS on your computer, the installer will warn you with the message ¡°JAWS is not installed¡± and you will not be able to continue with the installation. 3. Once the installer completely installs the necessary files for JAWS, the ¡°Device Driver Installation Wizard¡± appears as below. This installs the USB driver for using SyncBraille with JAWS via USB cable. - To start the installation, click the ¡°next¡± button. - Select ¡°FTDI COM Driver¡± in the list box and click the ¡°finish¡± button - The installation process is now complete. To finish the installation, click the ¡°finish¡± button. ++ HOW TO create a USB Connection between the SyncBraille and JAWS. 1. Once you have installed the SyncBraille driver for JAWS, Connect the smaller end of the USB OTG cable to the USB OTG port on the SyncBraille and the larger end of the cable to the USB port on your computer. 2. Run JAWS and select ¡°Braille¡± under the JAWS ¡°Options¡± menu. 3. Select ¡°SyncBraille¡± as the ¡°Default Braille Display¡± and ¡°USB¡± as the port. - This is all that is needed to complete the connection. Please note: you will need to restart JAWS before the display becomes active.. ++HOW TO REMOVE the SyncBraille driver 1. Navigate to the folder where JAWS is installed. - For example, ¡°C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific¡±. 2. Locate ¡°\Shared\Drivers\Braille\1.0\ThirdParty\syncbrl¡±. 3. Run ¡°Uninstaller.exe¡± 4. If JAWS is currently running, the following message will be displayed. - ¡®In order to complete the uninstallation action, you must reboot the computer. If you do not want to reboot the computer now, the uninstallation will be completed the next time you reboot the computer.¡¯ 5.
